New 172 SP NAVII owner. Need to spend some time on avionics with
ground power. 24V female plug from battery pack is very tight fit
into male (plane) recepticle. Not sure connection is made. Should
I be able to run avionics without master (battery) switch on if
ground power properly plugged in (with avionics master on)? Should Volts annunciate if ground
power plugged in? Thanks for helping the mechanically handicapped.
I use ground power on my 2004 182T and I assume its the same. I studied the schematic in the POH. It requires the master switch to be on. In addition, in order to charge my back-up battery for the G1000 from ground power the back-up switch needs to be on as well. If I leave it on for a few hours for a charge, I pull the circuit breaker on the PFD so I am not running it for no reason. (PFD runs whenever back-up battery is on). You should see a similar set-up in your POH.
