Hello, thanks for hosting this great forum. I just joined and hope to learn a lot from the people here. Im in the process of buying a 1960 Cessna 210, it's going through a pre-purchase inspection now. This is my first complex/retractable gear aircraft. I have owned 2 182s, a 172 and several pipers, but nothing complex.
Any things that i should be looking out for with the 210. This plane has a low time engine (Ram), new saddles, new bladders, monarch caps, Garmin 430, Stec,Stol, gap seals, etc. When I flew it last week, we easily hit 180mph at 7500ft and it seemed to want to keep going.
Any bad habbits on these old 210s that you know about??? Landing seemed just like the 182's, that Ive owned except for the one extra step (3 green), GUMP is written on the inst panel..
thanks ron.
Saw your posts about the 210, guess nobody on this forum knows how great those early 210s are. Congrats, those 60' models were actually 182's with an IO-470. They are fast little creatures, faster than the later 62-63 models. I had a friend with one several years ago and we flew it all over the northeast states. Get the horton stol kit for it and also if you can install the VGs, they are worth the money. I have them on my 172R and they really make a difference. If it is in good shape, you dont have any more problems with it than any other retract. The IO470 will outlast any IO-520 anyday, the IO470 is a much better continental than the others.
