1968 206. as we reach hiher RPMs, the voltage regular seems to shut down the alternator. when we recycle Master, everything seems to be ok for a short time then starts again. we relaced the voltage regulator and the alternator is fairly new. any ideas??
use a digital voltmeter and see what happens to the voltage as you increase the RPM. The voltage should increase to about 13.6v - 14v if it goes above this the voltage regulator is no good.
There is an over voltage cutout that cuts the field voltage to the alternator at around 15v. It resets when you turn the master off. You should also get the over voltage light on if it's working.
