I am hoping someone is able to provide me with an estimated time to install an engine in a Cessna 172 following an overhaul. If any of you have any estimated times, I would really appreciate the help. Thank you.
Well, it depends on if the accessories are mounted, but the installation should take a couple of guys NO MORE than one day (8 Hrs) or 16 man hours, and if they don't run into any snafus shave a little off that. Wouldn't recommend one man on this one. Find out the flat rate on this and it should be an accurate estimate. Can someone find out what that is for me please and comment back?
Mount engine/shock mounts, torque mount bolts, rig carburetor/airbox, gas hoses, install exhaust, intake, vac lines, primer lines, scat/air hose, alternator, starter, oil filter, oil, spark plugs, time mags, install prop/spinner/ring gear support, ground, cowl engine, run up and a few others small details....
Per the Cessna Flat Rate Manual, 20 hours for an engine R&R. This does not include the prop, engine cowl, test runs with leak checks. I have done this numerous times and it typically takes about 30+ hours to do it right.
