Instrument panel
I just bought a 1964 182G, and I would like to update the instrument panel to the basic T. I was hoping that some one could steer me towards an STC , or at least an idea
Hi Gary,You bought a good plane, can't beat the 182.I've got a 62 and changed the panel to basic T.Companys that do panels range from Avion research that do good work but expensive to some avionics shops.Avion is stced , If you just replace the panel with reoriented holes useing the same mountings no stc is required, just logbook entry by ai.By this I mean no structural mods just the flat panel replacing the original.Talk to some shopes avionics and maintenance as some will takle it.Good Luck
You mentioned in your post that an stc is not required for the above mentioned approach to repositioning instruments into the "six pack". Can you point me toward the faa document that covers that work? I have a 67 pa28-180 that I would like to do that same thing. All the instruments are the same size and the existing aluminum subpanel would not need to be changed. I would just need to work with an A&P to shift them around. Also, what document gives the dimensions for the "pilot's field of view" in a cherokee? Thanks.
