I recently purchased a 1971 172 with the 180 horse constant prop conversion, the stc and supplement were missing. I will pay dearly for a copy of this paperwork.
I am also looking for the stc to increase max weight to 2550.
aren't engine/serial/tail numbers on the STC along with "Do not copy"
I'm not so sure that a copy of someone elses STC will do you much good if you ever really NEED to produce your STC paperwork..
I'm sure you can get a copy if the company is still in business for a "nominal" fee. If your origonal is lost and a "legit" duplicate cannot be obtained a copy of a like STC along with your logbook documentation and the mechanics logs should pretty much satisfy anyone...
Good luck :-)

Sounds correct Michael - they are registered back to the STC holder by Aircraft Serial Number, Registered owner and Installer. This is to protect the STC holder as well as the consumer.
Have you tried getting your airworthiness and registration file from the FAA? For a nominal fee they will send you a CD with the complete records that they have for your "N" number. You can order it at www.faa.gov. Look for aircraft registration information. Good Luck.
