I would like to know what engine conversions are available for our 1959 172A. We currently have the 0-300 145hp engine in it, but need significantly more hp and performance flying out of Las Vegas. We are new to this web site, and also new to aircraft ownership. Thank you for your help and suggestions.
Here's a list of STC'd engine conversions for the 172A from the FAA website. By far the most popular conversion is to the Lycoming O-360. Air Plains has an O-360 STC, but unfortunately it doesn't cover the 172A (the earliest 172 covered is the 172B). I'm not sure how many of these are currently active, but the Del-Air is, and I've heard very good things about their conversion.
Hope this helps.

Gentlemen,
Do you know if anyone holds a conversion for a 1959 Cessna 172 using the
IO-360 series of Lycoming engines? Fuel injection systems rather than
Carb.
Thanks,
Rich.
