Colder weather is coming - Install your Oil Cooler plates!

Scott ShererScott Sherer COO Forum Moderator
As ambient (local) weather drops below 55 degrees Fahrenheit, it's important to install Oil Cooler Winterization Plates on your oil cooler, if your plane recommends it. During the winter, your oil temperature may not increase above 180 degrees F and boil off all of the moisture in it due to the cold air flow through your cooler. Putting a winterization plate on your oil cooler restricts how much cold air can move through the cooler and allows the temperature to rise above 180 degrees F.

Scott I’m looking for info on proper CHT for 182P. I target 380 F but sometimes engine will run rough before I get there. Am I doing any damage running at 370-374?

Cooler from rich of peak is okay. Careful if you're doing lean of peak.
