Velcro recommendation for 172S factory cupholder?

Hi everyone, I need to replace the velcro securing my factory cupholder to the floor in a Cessna 172S. I'm probably overthinking this, but the varieties and options for different types of velcro are endless. Have any of you replaced your velcro and found a product that holds up well, especially with repeated removal and reattachment of the cupholder?

Bz,, hard to tell what you have for the cup holder and covering on the floor I was thinking about a little bit how about putting a snap button or two on the bottom of the cup holder and that way it would be secure to the floor and you just pop it off the buttons? Local craft store or even Amazon and Walmart I probably have quick button kits. I've got some downstairs someplace and I forgot what I bought them for but they're really easy to use. Might be worth a thought or try different types of velcro. Carl

  • I think I'm ok with Velcro since the plane undergoes 100hr inspections regularly and it's easy to apply and replace as needed. I was just curious if anyone had a particular type or brand that they've found to be strong and durable. But I like the snap idea - maybe down the road when the plane isn't a trainer anymore.

Are you just using Velcro stuck to the bottom of the cup holder and using that Velcro to attach to the carpet directly? Carl
