Electric Flaps 1965 Cessna 172F
Looking for feedback regarding this vintage of electric flaps operation: I have a 1965 172F with electric flaps. My question is; do the electric flaps of this year "coast" after releasing the flap switch handle? When I say coast, I mean; they don't stop immediately upon release of the flap switch. The switch is a momentary switch with the center being off. You can press it up or down for movement and when you release the switch it returns to the center position. Mine coast and I am guessing this is normal due to the design of the motor and the motor not having a brake. It makes it hard to get the correct 10,20,30 flap setting and the indicator isn't very accurate. Can anyone else confirm that this is normal operation for this flap system?
