Another old new pilot!

Hi All, we purchased this 172D in 2021 with under 1700TT. Obtained my PPL in 2020 and as you can tell, I was a late bloomer trying to avoid an early frost! We have upgraded the avionics and currently, I am trying to work up the courage to install the airtex kit we purchased last year (helpful hints appreciated). Future upgrades may include shoulder harness. We are based at KBKE and look forward to visiting family in the NW and continuing to enjoy our local scenery as weather permits.

Good morning there old fart. Kind of fun to call somebody that once in awhile I guess. Looks like a great find did you find the aircraft locally or did you have to travel far to get it. Took me two and a half years to find a 172. Congratulations on your recent license.

On your interior project to start with one section or seat at a time. It really is not that hard it's what I call arts and crafts. Take some good pictures of before and after

I'm not sure I would count on airtex for continued tactical support considering how busy they are. Carl

  • Planewrench, thanks for the advice. I was considering starting with the rear seat and side panels. The plane was in central Oregon so it wasn't too bad.

Exactly start with the back stuff that you can still fly the airplane and practice with gluing and fitting and arts and crafts lol. It's pretty rewarding when you get it cleaned up like that. I like the 26 172 before I found one here in Minnesota and I was stunned that people couldn't even vacuum and clean the inside of an airplane they were asking market value for. You'll have fun doing this. Carl
