LED light blubs

Would anyone be able to recommend a replacement LED Light blub for the Red Beacon and White Tail light for a 1998 182S ?

  • As I mentioned in another discussion, I use Aero-Lite LEDs for all my exterior lights. I've had them now for 4 years and 100s of hours, since I run all the lights on every flight, with the low amp load.

AircraftSpruce has a number of LED beacons.

  • A while ago I was looking for LED bulb to replace my interior dome light bulb and it’s a can of worms like do you want to be legal? Seems to me Spruce was somewhat useful with aircraft bulbs. If being legal isn’t a concern, figure out the specs (base type and overall dimensions) then Google and Amazon are your friends.

I've tried some cheaper LED bulbs before and have discovered that the cheap ones tend to induce noise into the radio system. For example, I tried some cheaper LED nav light bulbs and ended up with strange noises. I switched them to the expensive Whelen Chroma bulbs and they have always been silent.

  • I've been using the 'cheap' led bulbs on my old Cessna for 4 years now, with no issues. I have landing , taxi, position and beacon LEDs....no noise issues.

You may ave a wiring problem with the radios or headsets.

Be sure that the headset wiring shields are grounded only at the radio tray.
