Vibration

Good Afternoon I am having some in flight vibration after a successful prop balance. What should I check to see what is causing it.

Landon you're going to have to fill in an awful lot more blanks of information for any of us to come up with any kind of suggestions. How I approach a vibration on an Airbus a320 is going to be a lot different on what you may have on C208. Give us some data, lots of it. Carl

    Hi Landon18,

You mention that you had "a successful prop balance." Was this a static balance or a dynamic prop balance with the engine running? It is possible to have a successful static balance but the dynamic balance can be off. Also, does the vibration change with engine RPM in flight? Does it change in flight with the engine at idle but with changes in only airspeed as in a dive or climb?

How are you feeling and seeing evidence of this vibration? Is it shaking instruments making them hard to read or is it just a "feeling?" How is the spread of compression readings across all cylinders?

As Carl has pointed out, this is the type of information that can help you troubleshoot the issue.

    Regards,

    Mike
