Garmin GFC 500 Testing

Hi All, I’ve been chatting with Max Unruh at Garmin about the GFC 500 and the hold-up around certifying it for Reims Rockets (A french built 172 with an IO-360). The issues are A) he doesn’t know how many are currently flying to see if the effort is justified. And B) he can’t find a suitable N-reg aircraft in the States to conduct th flight testing with. Can anybody advise me on how to go about finding how many are still registered and flying?

NB Until he knows the answer to the current numbers still flying there’s no incentive to start the testing process.

Maybe I don't understand the question, but if you search Reims at FAA https://registry.faa.gov/aircraftinquiry/Search/MakeModelResult, fill in Manufacturer Name, and nothing in model, quite a few will come up. FXXX models, again I don't know if that's what you mean, if not i am sorry :-)
